What are some good culinary schools?

I'm a senior in high school, and I'm not sure where to go in life...I don't have many talents or interests. I've always wanted to be a writer, but I have to get a stable life and job first and brace for rejection.

So I've considered careers in teaching and baking/pastry arts, because I'm good at English and I love baking and learning how to bake. However, I'm not very experienced in the kitchen (though I have been practicing recently to see if it really is for me, and I like it a lot so far), and I'm really shy so standing in front of a large group of staring kids would be very hard for me to do.

So for now I'm seriously considering working in the baking/pastry arts field. I have this plan to go to a culinary school or a school that has a good baking program, get a bachelor's degree in baking/pastry arts, and find work at a catering company (restaurants aren't really for me). After that, eventually I want to open my own bakery/cafe.

I currently live in Baltimore, Maryland, and although going out of state would be cool, I still need to consider my local options too.

So here is the question: What are some good culinary schools?

I want to go to a school where they teach the basics first (as probably very few people go in knowing a lot), but I want them to have a very good baking program that can teach me everything I need to know to do well in the business.

A school with a study abroad program is a must--I need international experience!

Student housing is also a must, because if it's far I obviously need a place to stay, and if it's local I just want to be independent and have a good experience away from home. I need to work on being independent and living on campus would really help.

Also, if there are any tips you may have for choosing schools, doing well in culinary school and in the field, and choosing careers, etc...all advice is very welcome. I'm still kind of a kid, and I am about to go on a scary new journey.

Thanks for reading my giant wall of text :DWhat are some good culinary schools?
You should ask this question to Food Network. Go to the website and pull up the q and a area and ask them. They certainly should know. I think you are wise to explore your options. P.S%26gt; The CIA in California is a good school. Culinary Institute of America. What are some good culinary schools?
The Baltimore International College has a good culinary school.
