Looking for a nice party town in the Florida Keys?

A group of my friends which are all college students and live in Miami want to go to the Florida Keys for a weekend in July. So far the two biggest choices are Islamorada and Key West. Now I'm hearing about the Holiday Isle in Islamorada that they have really nice restaurants with the famous Tiki Bar but I have been reading really crappy reviews of the Hotel, then there's Key West but we're going by car and its a Looooooonnnnggg drive, plus I'm hearing that the majority of the population is gay. Not that have any problems with gay people, its just that we're all straight and looking for some girls to hook up with so if those gay rumors are true, that would put us out of luck. Anyway I'm running out of time everything is getting packed, need some good opinions ASAP.Looking for a nice party town in the Florida Keys?
I'm from Miami and in college and I go to the Key's all the time. Islamorada is fun. The Tiki Bar is awesome, but definitely more enjoyable if you go on your boat. If not, it's still fun, but most of the fun is with the people on the boats. Aside from the Tiki Bar, that's about it. Key West is definitely more fun. Get a hotel near Duvall street. That place alone is amazing. It has tons of bars and clubs. Fat Tuesdays and Margaritaville are really fun. And yes there are a lot of gay people, but it's not like there are no girls. It's summer and my friends and I always end up meeting (straight) people our age when we hang out there. If anything, just drive down, spend one night in Islamorada and the next in Key West.

But if you had to pick one, I'd go with Key West. The drive is worth it.Looking for a nice party town in the Florida Keys?
if you're looking for a PARTY then definitely go to key west..yea its gay but there are tons of straight people to offset it--i went in april for spring break and didnt feel "ovely" gay..in fact i saw much mopre straight people than gay..it seems the gay population stick to their gay bars and most of the tourists go to the tourist bars (sloppy joe's, ricks,etc)..you'll see plenty of girls there and definitely check out Samthers beach during the day
