What are some food items or dishes that make you nostalgic for home?

Anyone who was born in one place and moved to another is nostalgic for certain food items of their home town. I am from the New Orleans area and moved to Atlanta. New Orleans is one of the best food cities, save for MAYBE New York and San Francisco in the country.

I miss jambalaya. Yeah, it’s simple to make you say. Let’s see you try to do it like they do in Louisiana. I miss Barq’s rootbeer, IN THE BOTTLE. That is not available outside the Gulf Coast from what I’ve seen. Po-Boys. Please, don’t tell me you’ve had one of these. Yeah, some restaurant in New Jersey or Oregon might sell a sandwich they call a po-boy but trust me, it isn’t it. Unless you’ve been to Mother’s or the Napoleon House or whatever in New Orleans, you don’t know what you’re missing. Zapp’s potato chips. They used to sell these at the Publix’s up here, but they stopped. They are my favorite potato chips. And if you like seafood, New Orleans is probably the best in the country, save for maybe Boston, Baltimore or Seattle.

And you? What are some food items or dishes that make you nostalgic for home?
Kruidbroodjes from Rotterdam. I can't even buy the spices needed to bake them at home anywhere. They're yummy :)
Lived in SW.Missouri for about 12 yrs. Grew up in Rarides Parish La. I missed Crawfish ettoufee ,and chicken shrimp gumbo [the kind with rich brown roux ] sweet potatoe pie. What are some food items or dishes that make you nostalgic for home?
Definitely a mild fish curry
